Well, yes and no, you can have judgment made against you based on defamation, but the plaitiff would then have to take that judgment and bring it to a USA court to uphold the judgment. That is the case with Mina Mar and iHub. iHub didn't defend themselves because it was a waste of time. Mina Mar would get their judgment by default, but would then have to come to a USA court. The USA court would be the one who says yes or no to the validity of the forign courts judment. If the USA court upholds the forign courts judgment, then the defendant has to pay up. If not, then the defendant gets the last laugh. So, in the Mina Mar vs. iHub case... iHub will get the last laugh and they knew it. That's why they let Mina Mar get their judgment by default in Canadian courts. So, there is no guarantee your 1st ammendment right will protect you against forign law, but it's very unlikely a USA judge will honor a forigen judgment against an American's 1st ammendment rights.
