Case#3
Marathon Oil Co., Albion, Michigan
August, 1992
Amoco Oil Company operated the wells that Marathon had purchased for over 40 years. The soil under and surrounding the tank battery that was mined and remediated using soil washing technology developed by Lee Smith of Lake City, Fla. and Drexel Corporation, Conroe, Texas. The enzyme solution was manufactured by RichLabs. Once again the formulation FX-P 10/10 was used to remediate the soil down to nondetectable levels. The throughput of the unit was about a ton of soil per hour. The major amount of the 3 week period was taken up by the mining operation (removing and replacing the soil). The process cleaned the soil from an initial contamination level of 66,000 PPM to non-detectable levels.
