Car dealer testifies in Washington County case
Article from:Tribune-Review/Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Article date:March 6, 2008 Author:Karen Roebuck More results for: grand jury "vince locastro"

A Canonsburg car dealer testified Wednesday in a federal grand jury's public corruption probe of former Washington County District Attorney John C. Pettit.

Vince LoCastro, who runs the All Pro Auto Mall, was in the private grand jury's offices for more than three hours, but afterward said he spent most of the time waiting and just 35 minutes testifying.

"I really didn't have anything to share," LoCastro said. He declined to say what he was asked.

LoCastro is a longtime friend and a campaign contributor to Pettit, 72, who left office in January after 24 years. Federal authorities are investigating whether Pettit fixed cases, solicited false testimony, took inmates and informants to buy drugs and traded sex with female inmates for leniency, the Tribune-Review reported in January.

Last month, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection and LoCastro and Associates reached a civil settlement regarding consumer complaints about the accuracy of vehicle descriptions and conditions, warranties and payments through All Pro's "eBay Motors" auction Web site.

In 2003, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission barred LoCastro from serving as an officer of a public company for making false and misleading statements regarding a proposed spinoff of a company of which LoCastro was the chief executive officer
