Have you ever tried to short a BB stock? It's difficult at best but can be done. The MMs on the other hand are buying and selling the stock between themselves all the time. If they want to load up quickly on a stock they know will turn around, they drop the price so they can profit on the way up. Actually they profit in both directions but more so when there is high volume activity. This as you pointed out does often panic "weak retailers" who tend to loose faith easily.

At this point, there has been plenty of news that this company's bottom line will be much fatter in the very near future, so the MMs have given us one heck of a buying opportunity that we'll be very thankfull for later.
