Why? They haven't had time to finish one. It is extremely unlikely that Intel was planning on moving Dothan to the desktop when Dothan was being designed. So adding another core would require a lot of changes to a lot of parts of the chip. The P4 would be easier, and it still won't be an easy job.

Paxil will be their first x86 dual core. Given that they don't even have a wafer to show, that mean late next year at the earliest. After that, it is a toss up between Dempsey and whatever Dothan derivative makes it out. The question is what features are seen as important. AMD64 might not be that big of a problem, but HyperThreading is going to be trickier. Beefed up floating point is probably going to be required, although that should be simpler than the other two.
