Investors Hub New Features Update

It's been a while since we've brought our community up to speed on changes to the site, so we figured it's about time to do so. Since Bob came aboard in January, he's been busy adding all kinds of new features to the site and constantly tweaking it for better performance. Not only has this resulted in some cool stuff for Investors Hub, it has the arguably greater benefit of having kept him off the streets.

First, this is going to be a long message, so we recommend keeping it for a while as a reference to help you "Find The Features".

Unless otherwise designated, all of these features are available to all members of the site.

1. My Account screen. http://www.investorshub.com/boards/my_account.asp

Go here to see what account level you have (Registered/Limited, Lifetime Subscriber, etc), your subscription expiration date, and how many people have added a PeopleMark to you. Active Peoplemarks is the number of people who have Peoplemarked you and have also posted at least once in the past 30 days.

New/Unapproved: you can post 3 times per day to stock-specific boards until your email address has been checked and your posts reviewed to make sure you're really here to be civil about stock discussions.

Registered/Limited: the same limitations apply, but you can post a lot more frequently.

Grandfathered or Subscriber: You have unlimited posting privileges and access to many features not available with the other two account levels.

Note, if you'd like to upgrade to this level, visit http://www.investorshub.com/boards/subscribe.asp

2. My Settings screen. http://www.investorshub.com/boards/my_settings.asp

This is something pretty unique to websites. Use this screen to customize some key aspects of your Investors Hub experience. Elements such as whether or not to display embedded pictures or play embedded sounds when reading messages. A popular feature on this page is the "Favorites Auto-Refresh". If you toggle this on, your Favorites page refreshes itself at the interval you specify, making it easier to stay on top of new posts.

3. My Interface screen. http://www.investorshub.com/boards/my_css.asp

We think this feature goes beyond unique. With it, you have an amazing level of control over much of the look and feel of the site.

For example, if you spend a lot of time on the site, so the white background is tiring for your eyes, go here to change it to something else. Or if you'd like the menu bar to look more like buttons and/or display in a different font and/or color, here's where you change it.

For a more thorough explanation of this feature, go to #msg-336778.

4. Public Message Archiving (Subscribers Only)

If you're reading a public message that was written to you, a link appears that says "Keep". This is used so you can keep track of a message for future reference.

5. Preview/SpellCheck

Everyone has access to to the Previewer but SpellCheck only works for Subscribers. What this does is display a message the way it'll appear when posted, complete with formatting and the same word-wrapping. If you're a Subscriber, your message is also SpellChecked and any words in error are highlighted.

6. Top Boards http://www.investorshub.com/boards/top_boards.asp

Use this screen to see which boards on Investors Hub are the largest, most active, and most widely watched since the site's inception. The "Score" is a proprietary formula that takes into account total and recent posting activity and the number of people actively watching the board. This screen updates in realtime.

7. Full-Text Search (Subscribers Only)

With this feature, you can search posts in specific boards, by specific people, or across the entire site to find the posts containing any word(s) you're looking for. The most recent 50 posts meeting your criteria are returned regardless of the age of the posts.

8. Message Shorthand

When linking to another Investors Hub message in a post you're writing, you don't need the full URL. Instead, use #msg followed by a hyphen and the number of the message. For example, #msg-372523

9. Premium Features

There are a number of subscriber-only features the site has that you might not be aware of, whether or not you're a subscriber. These include ad-free viewing throughout the site, the ability to send and receive Private Messages, and the ability to read posts 10 at a time, which can be quite a time-saver.
