Following is the explanation provided to the Help Desk:
The market caps are updated at different times. On the Reuters.com site this information is updated on a weekly basis using the Friday Close price to calculate the market cap. Yahoo calculates its market cap daily based on the previous days close. We do not provide the market cap information to NASDAQ and therefore do not know how they calculate it. Both the yahoo and Reuters site calculate the IBM market cap using 1.675B shares outstanding and MSFT based on 10.862B shares , the variation is due to the changing prices.

(HA! And you pull up MSFT and the bottom has the Reuters logo... anyways.. I guess I can't wrap my head around Nasdaq buying Reuters data without Marketcap... but I suppose..)
