The Romans had a rich selection of "cuss words", though their perceptions of vulgarity differ somewhat from modern society. The most striking difference is where they believed that taking the woman's role in sex was degrading, while being on the penetrating end was regarded as acceptable, regardless of the gender of the "receiver" or the particular orifice being penetrated.
