Words are a lot like people. If you torture them enough, they will tell you anything you want to hear. The language in that PR is beyond waterboarded, it has electrodes wired to its private parts.
It can tell you anything from "Sanswire was discussed with the highest officials in the land and throughout the halls of congress" to "not a single verifiable utterance concerning Sanswire occurred anywhere within the borders of the District of Colombia".
Parse the words. Take the sentences out of context. Never does it actually state "David Christian discussed Sanswire with Senator Kerry"...nor does it specify that there actually were any "Congressmen and Senators involved in private discussions". How come? What's so difficult about stating simple facts?
The share price certainly spoke clearly.
My motto used to be 'trust but verify'. But in the case of Sanswire it's 'don't trust anything they say under any circumstances unless and until they walk the walk'. "Taking the hill" notwithstanding. Sorry.
