FORT LAUDERDALE - The 50-year-old former chief financial officer of GlobeTel Communications, a Fort Lauderdale based company, was sentenced today to three years in prison followed by a year of supervision, as well as a fine of more than $587,000 for tax fraud, officials announced.
Thomas Y. Jimenez, of Plantation, declined to report about $2.8 million in stock compensation that his company paid to him and other corporate officers, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida.
Jimenez admitted to officials that he used a second company to sell company stock that was supposed to be used as collateral for loans, the release said.
