holyfield did look good. and i had him ahead also.

a couple thoughts on the fight, if i may....

george foreman, imo, makes very astute observations from ringside. foreman said that rahman should jump on holyfield after holyfield throws 5 or 6 punches, because holyfield always needs time to recuperate after one of his patented barrages (i hesitate to call what holyfield throws a flurry <g3>). foreman is correct, imo. rahman could have been doing much better in the fight if he had gotten into the rhythm of attacking after holyfield had temporarily expended his energy.

the other thought concerns holyfield's reputation as a head-butter. the replay shows that in the few seconds leading up to the clash of heads, holyfield's head was more or less stationary, and rahman's head was moving. put another way, rahman butted himself. holyfield's head was there, and rahman hit it with his own forehead.

now one might contend that holyfield has raised the art of fighting with his head to such a high level of finesse that he knows precisely where to position his own noggin to ensure that his opponent's noggin will come into contact with it. <g3> and maybe they would be right. maybe he is that skillful. football quarterbacks sometimes throw a pass where they think their receiver is going to be, so that the ball is there waiting for the receiver. they let the receiver run to the ball. maybe holyfield does pretty much the same thing with his head... maybe he leaves it out there where he thinks his opponent will run into it.

but the replay last night showed rahman's moving head clashing into holyfield's stationary head.

did you see it that way, loo-nah
