My post did say “If the reference is to the blue mineral,” which looks like azurite to me. (“Azure,” as in “blue.”) The green copper carbonate that you are probably referring to is malachite.
I agree with you that the red color would be more indicative of gold. At one mine at which I worked, we would instruct the loader operators to “color sort” the red vein material as ore.
By the way, I had a PM with a third-hand report that Ed H. did have a link with copper and the gold. I’ve never heard of such an association in oxides and may bother him with a call about it when I am in Kingman next week.
