and for the record, those agreements take place to guarantee one company isnt trying to steal proprietary information from another during merger negotiations. not to hide financials from the investors or other companies. an example would be like company a has a drug to cure cancer and company b wants to by them out. during negotiations they sign a confidentiality agreement so company b doesnt get access to their info and then say forget the merger and walk away to produce the product for themselves. company a has to show company b the product to prove they are worth the money company b is paying to buy them out. it prevents theft of proprietary info, that is its intention. big, HUGE, MONSTROUS difference.
