How does it work in cruise control mode. Does it still downshift or does it start to drive smoother when your foot is not involved in the process.

Conversely, I noticed on declines newer transmissions sense the lesser need for torque and go to highest gear and engine RPMs drop to near idling speeds. In the old days, automatic transmissions could be relied upon to act as a brake on downhills drastically cutting into fuel economy.
