Sounds like a fresh pile of BS to me. Demand another person on the line preferrably your broker's supervisor. A written explanation in the form of an email would help explain the situation this just smells mighty stinky to me any legit broker SHOULD be able to place your friends order sounds very bogus. Suggest she try her other broker or find another broker if worst comes to worst.

A written explanation why would be appropriate it may be that the broker does not trade pinks online but that doesn't mean your friend cannot trade pinks over the phone. The entire answer (because of their position in the stock) sounds COMPLETELY unprofessional to me and I'd be looking for another broker if she couldn't find a better explanation.
