60 minutes last night -
Last night 60 minutes did a peice on xenotransplantation using pig organs in humans. They said that Pig organs are most closely related to humans in size and function. They are concerned about people getting a virus that pigs carry. There have been pig cells injected into the brains of I believe they said 12 people who have Parkinsons disease. In 6 of those people they had good results. It truly was amazing to see one of the recipients walking around and able to do so much more then he had before he got the injection. There is a company in Europe, I think they were called immutron (or something like that) that have injected human cells into the embryos of swine in hopes of the human body having less rejection of the foreign organ. It looks like it will be quite some time to come before they actually try to implant an organ from a pig into a human. As I watched the program I immediately thought of Struthers and there superior swine and all that Struthers could do to help facilitate these other companies in doing further testing, by providing some excellent pigs.
Today was a good day for STRU's shareprice, we shall see what tomorrow brings.
