sgolds, this board has a narrow focus, and for good reason. People come here to get AMD specific information. I don´t want to wade through ten posts on "median compensation figures" until I reach the one post that actually contains the information I came here for in the first place. Everyone knows here that stocks don´t exist in a vacuum, and depend heavily on the overall market and the economy. There´s nothing wrong with pointing that out, at all, it´s even necessary. But it´s also clear that economy is a boundless topic, and as soon as people start complaining, you (and others) should respect their wishes, even if you think your posts can still be called on-topic somehow, and continue at the sub-board for more detailed discussions, like with the question you just asked,

I wonder how the stats on median compensation look?.

- instead of fuelling an endless, unnecessary OT - not OT argument, which makes things worse, imho.

Those with a genuine interest in the matter can follow you there (just leave a pointer) easily, while the board stays focussed and effective for the rest. I can´t see the downside here, quite frankly, but the benefit is obvious.

I can only give recommendations, not make rules, and it´s up to you if you (and everyone else) want to respect them (and the wishes of other contributors) or not.

Answers to this post or to the OT - not OT subject, or on the state of the economy should be posted on the OT board! :)
