thanx bruce...that's the problem...i live in a vey rural area, they won't run us any hi speed lines...i also knew that a router would connect multiple computers together....but my thinking was that a server was alot faster than a PC.. here's my thinking..and guess the reason for my question..
i use 2 towers trading...one with a video card splitting that tower into 2 monitors..this one has 3 live/real time programs running all day...realtime qcharts, and two L2 services and my trading acct..
then on another puter i have my instant message and ihubs type stuff...on another phone inet line..then the 3rd puter is occasional use/backup unit..
everything works fine...download time is a bit slow...but my thinking is: a server is faster....so by hooking up my 2 main computers to it.on one internet phone line...will my downloads be just as slow, but only using one phone line, and one inet service charge..hence...a savings of 2 phone line charges, and 2 internet payments>>>???? or...will the server not aid in speeding things up anymore than simply using a router???thanx for the help
