The markets know the losses will continue and the Fed will continue to feed them money. I don't know why the Fed just doesn't take them (FNM / FRE) off the open market and be done with it.
Bernanke made it quite plain that they are not going to let anymore of these large institutions fail.
Nothing surprises me anymore.
