enlightened1, I posted about looking toward transportation as an indicator of recovery. My perspective on this does not come from any media talking heads, it comes from being in a family with over 50 years experience in the transportation industry.

Understanding the annual cyclical events within the trucking industry provides specific details in retail, and special commodities. These are Main Street growth indicators. Additionally, increases or decreases in rail or shipping provide raw material data directly tied to production and energy demands.

Banks are certainly important. But as we've seen, one can throw all the money in the world at them, but that doesn't seem to have much effect down here on Main Street.
