I had an IT guru friend years ago who said that HP was awful and to ABSOLUTELY stay away from that company. However, in the interim I have come across people who have bought their products and never ever had problems. The same thing has been said about Dell and I know users that love that company's products.

The same is true of cars, in my experience, so I have to conclude that there is a lot of the "luck of the draw" involved when buying these items.
