Besides light bulbs, LCD monitors are astounding on energy efficiency compared to CRT monitors about 25W used and thus reduced cooling requirements in summertime.

A CRT monitor uses about 70W when on. We are talking about 45 W per hour difference or 360 watts per 8 hour day or 126 KWH per year or $18 power savings. A new LCD monitor is $110. We are talking about 5 years max payback which is actually less if you count reduced AC bill in summertime.
