There are some here who feel that he was within his right and well justified in his reaction.

Of that I have no doubt.

There are those here who, while not your ally or supporter, came to your defense and attempted to persuade him that he had over-reacted. Whether those attempts were successful or not, for reasons unknown to all but you and him, he has shown that he is at least willing to listen to you and others even while you attack him.

I would call it "allowing me to speak" as opposed to actually listening. But then again I've not been asking for his resignation either. Pointless exercise that would be. But as staunch an advocate that I can be, I am also as tenacious in my prosecution. Further I am not seeking allies or supporters. I post as I see fit. Some will like it, some won't. Some will support my position, some will oppose. That is the nature of things. My only objective is to inspire some to think. As opposed to blindly following.

Some people (usually but not always ~ men) believe so strongly in the sanctity of their given word that nothing else has comparable value when swearing an oath. Yet they refuse to swear an oath on the life of their loved ones because they always consider the possibility that they might unknowingly be in error.

Quite true. Sadly however, There is another group for whom little or nothing is sacred save their own desires and agenda. many will spout an oath upon anything knowing they have no intention of following through. Occasionally though they have the intellectual moxie to know that they cannot make such an oath. Therefore they seek an "out" to avoid having to make such a commitment.

Both of you revealed much to the world yesterday. You have much to offer the rest of us, as does he. It's time now to put aside old slights, allow the wounds to heal, and begin anew.

I really don't know how much I have to "offer". I only know that I will continue to do as I have always done and let that speak for itself. It is true that these "slights" are ancient, and many of the wounds inflicted on both sides will never completely heal. Sadly, this hinders starting fresh. But perhaps we can all take solace in the old adage...

Time wounds all heels.
