DVOM, I just looked at that program, & I don't understand most of it. My C drive is NTFS, and the bad one (E) is/was a 20 gig. Maxtor FAT drive. I DID see that they recommend copying the drive, & working on the "image." I suspect it might be mechanical for the following reason; I rebooted a number of times trying to make a "bootabe" set of rescue disks, when a Wndows XP screen said that there might be something wrong with the E drive, & was going to check it. It got to 13%, then froze & stayed there for over an hour. I eventually rebooted, & landed in my present mess.
