I'll have to disagree.
1) I think Quebecers are more astute at voting strategically than many other Canadians.
2) They had nothing to lose voting Bloc.
3) All the hype surrounding the Bloc strength played out in the ROC media and scared the Ontarians into voting Liberal. This should come as no surprise really since Ontarians got suckered again thinking they did have something to lose voting Conservative.
4) At the risk of ticking off some of my fellow Canucks... Ontarians in my experience (been here 18 years) are not very sophisticated voters and while I share Harper's disgust I don't share his surprise. This of course will add to Western alienation.
5) Quebecers voting in a referendum is a horse of a different colour and they know it. I think the Quebec separatist time has come and gone for my lifetime.
6) Maybe we should get rid of Ontario ? They are the ones that cannot seem to vote decisively for change federally when required (OK Maritimes too LOL)
7) as to the Loonie the trend will continue up until the whining from exporters gets unbearable. Who cares if us consumers have increased buying power anyway ?

Mostly CASH and yield.. but solar Powered in the future :O)
