having been an insider, i'll offer opposing points

1) individuals rarley sell if there is some big development around the corner.

2) individuals have lives. maybe a new house, college tuitions, boats, cars... sometimes it's about having the money now...rather than having the most money.

my opinion: merrill's was an awful lot of money. he must have had some BIG NEED. doubtful it was that big, and it was a big percentage of his shares. he probably doesn't see a watershed event around the corner. but he has been wrong before! hopefully, there's nothing negative about to break.

he may have a low risk tolerance and not like all his money in one stock, and all sitting on the sidelines. too little info for us to base anything on, and i believe in the long-term story. but i'm gettin impatient.

another corrolary(sp) for insiders. they don't announce big news at this time--close to quarter's end. probably blacked out 2 weeks before until 48 hours after announcement. therefore, there'd be too much time for the stock to retrench. they would wait until after announcement, then they could sell 48 hours after press release--more chance for the stock to hold its gains.
