From what I have read the main reason is to get rid of the structural members to reduce weight. Maybe link lots of cells together.

Single vectored propulsion unit, that was just to test the equipment. There will still be six engines.

Here is a thought
Latitude Stugart 45 deg north.
Sun 22.5 n to 22.5 south
Where do you suppose the solar cell would be placed?

My guess is between 22.5 and 135 Deg from TDC, port side,
@ 20000m receiving 1,275w (radiant energy)/sq. ( on earth 1,000w ) Increasing SC eff. 27.5%

My guess their going to point those engines in the direction of the wind and the nose facing 90 deg away from the sun as much as possible thus track the sun just like on earth.
You could even tilt the Z axes for the season.
