JPMorgan To Retain WaMu Branch Staff, Cut At WaMu HQ -Reuters

The 20,000-plus employees who work at Washington Mutual Inc.'s (WAMUQ) branches are likely to keep their jobs, JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) spokesman Tom Kelly told Reuters Friday. JPMorgan will also retain about 2,000 California-based WaMu staff in roles such as mortgages and wealth management, Kelly said. However, substantial job cuts are planned at WaMu's Seattle headquarters and in back-office positions in California, Reuters reported. JPMorgan expects to tell all former WaMu employees by Monday about the status of their jobs.
