Just came to mind, I had forgotten about an article I had read in my local paper last week regarding the water needed to drill for gas in the Marcellus shale. They were talking about the water that is contaminated during the drilling process were 20,000,000 was needed per well for drilling which then is considered contaminated. They have a process that the water must go through prior to discharge back to the water source, but not everyone has a river nearby to draw water from.
