Another bizarre story is George Eastman, founder of Eastman Kodak.

After making his fortune and alienating nearly everyone in his life, he donated his fortune to a foundation with the intent of giving it all away - as he dined alone accompanied by live organ music.

After distributing nearly all of his assets, he placed a pillow over his chest and shot himself - leaving a note to is housekeeper apologizing in advance for the mess.
