They wipe the board because of the huge ammount of attention CMKX is getting. The board can only handle so much traffic, so users may have problems accessing it with the unexpected spike in interest. Wiping the board clears out the database which holds the messages, so that it loads up faster, and more users can access it. I'd be willing to bet that under the direction of the new law firm, they back-up and archive all messages prior to wiping clean to use as evidence in future civil suits against MMs and bashers.
