Has it ever happened in your experience that a sub penny will hire a law firm of this caliber other than to defend itself?

Well, Jag Media and several other companies hired O'Quinn to go after the Evil Naked Shorts. So far that isn't going very well. As you point out, when there's trouble, management usually spares no expense.
