Bruce and all gurus I have a query:

I have just installed a new hard drive on my computer. Samsung 120Gb. The installation went fine. It is currently Drive F, with the primary as Drive C. Next, I cloned the primary Drive with Norton Ghost to the secondary drive. Went fine.

Now, of course, what I want to do is switch the new drive to the primary drive. I am stuck here. I have tried to disconnect the old drive completely, plug in the Drive 0 cables to the new drive and use Auto detect in the BIOS. No luck.

I have tried to leave the original setting in the BIOS and simply switch the cabling. No luck in that it simply detects the original drive as the primary and boots normally.

I have tried to auto detect both drives in the bios and switch the cable attachments between 0 and 1. No luck.

The new drive, using auto detect and leaving it in the slave postition is detected perfectly by the BIOS, down to the model number.

I am pretty sure I have the jumper settings correct each time I try a new setting on the drives.

Obviously there is something simple I am missing. Anything come to mind? I have not done anything in the System Administrator setting prior to switching the Drives. Should I?

P4 1.5. RDRAM. XP Pro. Standard Dell Dimension.

Thanks.
