BNSF Railway Co. said it is laying 13 miles of new rail between Arkansas City, Kan. and Gainesville, Texas.
The capital improvement project is valued at $3 million and will require the work of 30 crew members to complete by November.
Fort Worth-based BNSF Railway says the crew will complete the rail at a rate of one mile per day. Certain portions of the track will be closed for six hours a day to allow crew members the opportunity to work on the project. As part of BNSF environmental requirements, materials pulled from the line will be recycled.
The project is part of a $2.85 billion capital commitment, BNSF said.
