A truly delicious evil plan! A exercise in betting on greed.
A speculative reading.

If a company knew that they were in a cellar boxing situation, where the MM's greed controlled the company's future. That no amount of positive company news could shake that greedy lock. Why not change the game?

Yes you have land, yes you have high potential, but the MM's greed and power was just too great to overcome by normal means...

Then change the game. You know if you play the Devil's game they will win. You can continue to use your capital to hang on or you can... Raise the A/S to the max, deal with the devil, place a small portion of new A/S out for the MM's to fill their greed with, pretend to play their game.

Make true but weak and intriguing Press Releases on the company's progress. Announce a share buyback/retirement, deal with the devil again to facilitate this while giving them the idea it was just part of the game. MM greed knows no bounds, the short grows and grows....

Buy back more and more and more at the arranged price through one devil, while selling much less through the other devil, just enough to fuel their greed even more so the short grows and grows..

Finally you have bought twice as much or more then you have sold. The A/S is still the same but the O/S is less then it was and the short is astronomical and you have the shorted shares in your control. The Devil MM's greed has created the new game!

Now announce the new game. Release the good PR's, leak the Devil's shorts, :) start explaining the rules of the new game. Company outstanding debt to shareholders minimal, Devil's short outstanding debt to shareholders (including company owned/controlled shorted shares) astronomical. Start the Privatization process. Devil's made to cover, use devil's cover of shorts you own to cover your shareholder debt, pocket the rest. Company and Shareholders win the new game and the Devil pays for the board.

Just a thought.
