These last two paragraphs are indeed interesting. I also agree with Serious, Randy and anyone else that sees progress. Slow and steady is very good at this point.

"The FY-08 Defense Appropriations Act allocated $49.6 million to the “Army Missile Defense Systems Integration (Space)” line item. The extra $10 million “is required to continue efforts . . . to demonstrate the viability of the High Altitude Airship (HAA) as a potential platform to solve persistent Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance shortfalls,” the reprogramming document states.

“Ongoing efforts have considered whether HAA can effectively and efficiently perform persistent 24/7 surveillance of U.S. East and Gulf coasts,” the notice continues. “The platform . . . would offer long-term persistent performance at a lower cost when compared with existing or projected systems. This funding demonstration would evaluate the HAA’s effectiveness at 60,000 feet; its ability to carry a 50-pound payload; and its endurance, reusability and speed.”

How much easier it is to be critical than to be correct.
