Taking a good photo of a 1D bar code with a cell phone camera has been discussed many times, and the best solution that I heard of was from a poster on this thread, Hightechjunkie. Below are some discussions about Wavefront Coding (WFC). This camera technology claims to bring all items far, and near into focus.

Have you heard about this technology? I’m wondering what ever happened to Hightechjunkie, and the advancement of WFC in the camera cell phone industry. Since then I’ve received no feedback from NeoMedia about this technology. In general, I get the impression that most of the people at NeoMedia really don’t understand the detailed technical issues. When I e-mailed Chas Fritz about detailed technical questions, I only received general answers.
