BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - Scana Corp. Friday said second-quarter net
earnings rose to $57 million, or 48 cents a share, from $55 million, or 47 cents
a share, in the year-ago period.
Revenue for the Columbia, S.C.-based company rose to $1.22 billion from
$1.01 billion a year earlier.
Scana said earnings improved for the second quarter of 2008 compared to last
year, with the impact of "sustained" electric and natural gas customer growth
and the 4.4% retail electric rate increase that went into effect in January.
For 2008, the company affirms its previous earnings guidance of $2.90 to
$3.05 a share. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, on average, forecast
full-year profit of $2.94 a share.
Shares closed Thursday at $36.19.
