Why this is a Big Deal. I'm not seeing posts that articulate why it's going to be big. Here is how I see it.
TV/Internet Living Room Convergence will be absent High Definition Content without a Digital Video Recorder designed specifically for the Internet. Streaming is NOT capable of High Definition. Once consumers get a taste of high definition, there is no turning back. AND TVTONIC IS WITHOUT PEER AS A DVR FOR THE INTERNET!!!!
TVTonic's Olympic victory must be understood in the context of major Entertainment Portals such as Netflix and Amazon who have recently hitched their wagons with Vista Meda Center seeking a way to get their content into the Living Room. The convergence movement is not tomorrow, it is TODAY!
The TVTonic/NBC Olympic deal was NOT a niche victory. It was a platform victory. TVTonic converts the Internet into High Definition better than anyone else because it has been fine tuned and burnished for years now. Where's the competition? And Wave management was shrewd enough to develop TVTonic in conjunction with Vista Media Center and Xbox.
Unlike Trusted Computing, which has virtually no investor audience, there are zillions of investors who watch the Internet space. My prediction: TVTonic is going to leverage this Olympic victory into some very "awesome" High Definition Convergence deals. In fact, I think there is an excellent chance that TVTonic ends up as a Icon on PCs in the too distant future. I understand that TVTonic is now "automatically" downloaded, but it will be vastly superior when TVTonic is right there on the screen ready and available to do E-Commerce and Entertainment!
The right deals, worded the right way, will create (ir)rational exuberance for investors with deep pockets and shallow pockets. And all the investors in between.
And yes folks I think we should also be eying those 40 million plus extender Xboxes and Sony Playstations, each one embedded with a proprietary TPM.
