Simply email J.D. Pulver and request a sample. He will be more than happy to comply. My wife and I received ours about a week ago and both of us really liked them. In regards to whether it gives you energy or not. I tried mine around 8pm and I wasn't able to fall asleep until nearly 3 am. Whether it was from the energy boost or simply insomnia I am not sure. But I thought I should at least mention it here.
