If Q lowered their rates, then it will give more ammo for Nokia to say that the total to be paid for 3g should be capped at 5%. If Q agrees their contributions are worth a lot less then the overall pie must be less valuable. We need the patents to be worth as much as possible. Q has substantially more patents than we do even though some on this board would like to believe otherwise. I think if Q was able to keep their rates high, it makes all patents more valuable which in turn helps us. If Q lowered the value of their patents, then it will lower the value of our patents IMO.

I think yesterday was great news and will free Nokia up to settle with us. Now that they got the 800 pound IPR gorilla off their back and they now know how much IPR is worth, they will be able to come up with what is FRANDLY for us. 1% would be fine with me.

Disagree with that logic totally! The more QCOM gave up the easier it will be to settle! Nokia gets to keep some and settle with us at maybe no new cost. Win For Nokia & us.
