H-P held on to the No. 1 slot with an 18.1% share, up slightly from the year earlier, according to Gartner, while IDC put H-P's share at 18.9%. Meanwhile, Gartner said a hard-charging No. 2 Dell gained ground on H-P with its new retail strategy.
