Does being a "religious person" necessitate the belief in God?

Or does being religious mean something different? Did you know that the root of the word "religious" means "serious". To be serious about something means to be concerned about something important or something that matters, rather than something trivial.

You say "God creates problems." Then state the numerous religions that have been developed, each with a different set of beliefs that may be right for some and wrong for others.

Setting aside that which is referred to as "God" for the moment, what do you think created the various religions with their multitude of beliefs? What is the root cause? Is it really God that created the different religions and all the problems and conflicts that have been brought about? Or is it the thoughts of man which created the conflicts?

My first post wasn't a flippant one. The idea was to get people to realize the difference between "thought" and "understanding". If you come to that realization, you will recognize that it is "thought" and not "God" that is at the root of all problems.

Thought is composed of memories, which are always of the past. You think in words, which have been learned since birth and repeated ad infinitum until you think that which you are composed of.......your self......is what you are. Your thoughts are what separate you from someone else. You become the "individual" because you think you are. Your individual thoughts tell you it is so. Your thoughts can never be new, because every one of them are composed of something remembered, something of the past. Someone else thinks something different and there is conflict.

"Individuality" is an illusion.

More later.
