In some cases, the kids are an extension of self. Not even viewed as a separate person. When I was a kid, parents rarely stayed at sporting events. You either walked or were dropped off and walked home or were picked up. Trouble today is child predators are everywhere.
IMO walking to school builds character. Where I live the kids live two blocks from the elementary school, yet the school bus picks thems up. I was really disgusted yesterday when I went to a middle school to mail a letter at the USPS box out front. To make a long story short, two full-size gasoline guzzling school buses pulled up to pick up the summer school kids. About 7 or 8 kids boarded each of the full-size, gasoline guzzling school buses. I've had it. Gonna raise hell with the school board. Had those brats done their school work during the regular term, they wouldn't be in summer school. I'm paying for their summer school AND their bus ride. The school should be shut down in the summer. How much does the air conditioning cost? This crap has to stop.
