"Hi - Just wanted to give an update: My mother's PET scan, on 6/10/08, showed no evidence of cancer! I LOVE the CyberKnife. Two years ago my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer (when pressed for a prognosis, her doctor gave her 3 - 6 months). She had never smoked, her house tested at almost 0 for radon... we were all in shock. With the help and support of an excellent team of forward-thinking doctors- her primary care physician, her independent (she did not go to a hospital or special facility) oncologist, and the wonderful CyberKnife team, and with the advent of revolutionary new treatments (in her case Tarceva, and CyberKnife) she is feeling well and, as far as I am concerned, she is cured ( I don't want to give any "power" to this diseasse so I refuse to think it will return ).
I am writing this post to give hope to anyone diagnosed with this disease. It is NOT necessarily a death sentence - do not be discouraged. Expect the best and enjoy each day! There ARE success stories out there.
Over the past two years I have searched the Web for information, daily, and would have loved to have come across a story like this. I hope this post gives encouragement to others embarking on this journey."

Thank you for your wonderful post about your mother and how well she is doing following the Cyberknife treatment. I have posted here before but will repeat. Last December I was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer. Followin various appointments with doctors presenting their recommendations, I asked for a referral to UNCMemorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC. Following further testing at UNC, I was referred for the Cyberknife treatment. Had three sessions and go back next week for a follow up. I never felt sick, my hair didn't fall it, and I never felt as though I was walking around with cancer growing inside of me. My life has been touch by cancer with losing an 18 year old daughter to Hodgkins Disease; a husband to esophageal cancer, a father to leukemia. Cyberknife is the wave of the future and I think that medicine will be more and more involved with robotic treatments. Maybe Accuray needs new management and a board of directors, but for the patients, this is a miracle come true.
