Five steps for inserting a chart into an I-Hub post:
Note - The 2 images (bottom of post) were displayed using Windows-98. This may vary slightly from version to version.
Step 1 - display a chart a. Using the online charting package of your choice, display a chart. (this example uses BigCharts.com)
Step 2 - display the chart's URL a. Right-Click anywhere on the chart. This brings up the Context Menu (see image)
b. Left-Click the Properties item to brings up the Properties Window. (see image)
Step 3 - select the URL with the mouse Do Not include the phrase http:// when selecting the URL. You want to select everything except this phrase. (see Properties Window image)
Note - only a portion of the complete URL is displayed in the Properties Window. This is one of the main reasons people have trouble with this. There are more lines below that will scroll-up as you select them.
a. Place the cursor just after the phrase http:// (see Properties Window image)
b. Click and hold down the Left mouse button, and at the same time, drag the cursor down, and to the right. (the URL will scroll up when you do this) When you get to the end of the URL, release the button. The entire URL should now be highlighted.
Step 4 - copy the URL to the clipboard a. Right-Click anywhere within the highlighted area of the URL.
b. A menu will pop up. Select Copy. The URL should now be copied to the clipboard.
Step 5 - paste the URL into the I-Hub post Note - due to a technicality, two asterisks (*) had to be included within the brackets of [*chart] and [*/chart] in order for these phrases to be displayed.
Do Not type these asterisks into your post. There should no asterisks or spaces within the brackets.
a. Go to I-Hub and create a new post.
b. Type the following into the post: [*chart] (without asterisk)
c. Make sure the cursor is positioned to the right of [*chart]
d. Right-Click and select Paste from the popup menu. This will insert the URL from the clipboard into the post.
e. Make sure the cursor is to the right of the last character in the URL, then type: [*/chart] (without the asterisk)
