NIHK .36 up on new orders ......DENVER, Apr 28, 2004 Nighthawk Systems, Inc. (NIHK) , a provider of intelligent remote power control equipment and services, announced today that it has received an additional order from Central Vermont Public Service Company (CVPS) for remote control devices to be used in their load control program. The Nighthawk controls will be installed at customer premises and will allow CVPS to control water heaters during periods of peak demand.
In thousands of residences in the Northeast , the electrical circuit for hot water heaters is directed through a separate utility meter co-located with the main house meter. Antiquated systems using pre-set time clocks installed on the water heater have been used for decades to control loads during peak hours. Working with CVPS, Nighthawk designed the intelligent CEO-30 wireless remote disconnect that is installed quickly and easily at the external meter, eliminating any premise wiring. In contrast to cumbersome pre-set time clocks, the CEO-30 allows a utility to control loads on demand at the appropriate times.
In February 2004, the Company announced that PECO Energy had ordered up to 2,000 similar units in order to shed unnecessary loads during peak demand periods. CVPS has now placed multiple orders with Nighthawk Systems related to their own load control program.
