But unless you have met or spoken to Urban Casavant, you wouldn't be aware that he's not mastermind material for this complex of a fraud.

Well, the Petro Plus story certainly suggested that he wasn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

Early on, I thought Dhonau was the "mastermind". We didn't even know about Edwards until after the revocation hearing. He did a good job of keeping out of the limelight.
