Wildmann: SafeNet - Wave

This agreement goes beyond Wave being a reseller. It is about platform management of SafeNet's software encryption product together with the management of the hardware based encryption products.

ERAS is the common management console for TPM, FDE.2 and SafeNet's software based encryption products. Enterprises want a common management console.

Integration of a third party's product into ERAS is obviously subject to moderate to extensive software development. Whether Wave (or the other software encryption vedors!) will or will not seek to support other software product vendors is tough to judge. Make no mistake though, today's partnering news is as beneficial to SafeNet as it is to Wave!

I wonder where this leaves all the other software encryption folks... after all, the Trusted Platform Module and it's management becomes of ever increasing importance! And nobody really wants a variety of server tools to manage all their clients.

If I were to guess I'd say that this development was initially put in motion by customer requests...
