Hi researcher59,
I have chronic-wrist tendonitis as well. Here's what I do to help keep me playing:
1) Stretch the hand both forward and backward.
2) I ultrasound the wrist and forearm with Sonic Relief.
3) Take 500mg of Naproxyn before I play.
4) Tape the wrist for extra support.
5) Play with a Nike wrist brace for added support.
6) Make sure I hold the racket tight on all groundstrokes, especially the serve.
7) Ice the wrist after I play.
These steps keep the tendonitis in check and it has slowly gotten better. I've had the issue for about two months now but the road to recovery is long because of age and my frequency of playing 2-3/week.
Take what you like and leave the rest.
Regards,
frenchee
